Word of the Week

rhythm (noun)

Meaning –a strong, regular repeated pattern of movement and sound

Example of using it in a sentence: "The rhythm of the snoring was irregular!”

Synonyms: pattern, flow, tempo, regular features

Spelling Tip – here we have a difficult word to spell because of its Greek origin and French influence. The silent ‘h’ as the second letter and the ‘y’ acting ‘as’ the vowel makes it an unfamiliar English word. Here is a little acrostic poem to help you “Rhythm helps your two hips move.”

R + h + y + t + h + m

Rhythm

Helps

Yours

Two

Hips

Move

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
