Word of the Week

illuminate (verb)

Meaning – making something visible or bright by shining a light on it.

Example of using it in a sentence: “Christmas lights illuminate the Christmas tree beautiful.

Spelling Tip – both the prefix and the root word are from Latin. The prefix ‘il’ meaning ‘upon’ and the root ‘lumin’ meaning ‘light’ and the suffix meaning ‘having the appearance or characteristic of.’ So, we get something having ‘the appearance of light shining upon it.’
