Meaning: the number 40

Example of using it in a sentence “I can count up to 40 candles on that birthday cake. "

This Old English word means four tens 4 x 10 = forty

Spelling tip: we are breaking the word up like this just as we say it. But here we need to remember to leave out the ‘u’ from the number four. – it is not helpful is it? It would have made sense to have kept it in.
