Dictionary

Meaning: A book or electronic resource that lists the words of a language in alphabetical order, which gives there meaning and usage.

Example of using it in a sentence “You can use a dictionary when working on you spellings in to sentences, to help you understand the meaning of the word."

The root word comes from the Latin for a manual of words.

Spelling tip: we are going to help ourselves by breaking up into three section all with root words in. we know that dict means to say but we only need 1 ‘t’ and we need the right ‘tion’. The ‘tion’ means the state, condition, action or process and this books tells us how to do all those things with the words and the ‘ary’ tells us they belong and how they are connected.

Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
