courteous
Meaning: the way somebody behaviors, being polite, respectful or in a considerate way.
Example of using it in a sentence “The knight was courteous to the other people at court."
This word comes from Middle English meaning to have manners fit for a royal court. It was based on the Latin word meaning yard or retinue where the king spent time with the lords and ladies ruling the country.
Spelling tip: we are going to separate the word into two. The court and the ‘eous’ as the ending.
court + eous
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
