Ancient (adjective)

Meaning to belong to the very distant past (before the Romans Empire) and no longer in existence.

Example of using it in a sentence "Our project on Egypt looks at the ancient culture of the Pharos."

The root word comes from the Latin meaning ‘before’. We are going to remember it as part of the ‘ent’ family and not the ‘ant’ family.

Spelling tip: we are going to learn this word like this.

an + c + i + ent

Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
