At the Orchard Gate
At hte Orchard Gate this week we are thinking how we are just finishing Week 6, with two more weeks of learning before our half-term break.
Next week, our English work focuses on dictionaries—helping us find words, understand their meanings and become more independent when reading and writing.
On Friday 23 October, we will be visiting the British Museum. This is a chance to look closely at real objects and discover more about the people and places we have been learning about.
If you would like to join us, please let me know so I can add you to the list. Ideally, each child will come with a parent. With several year groups exploring different topics, I cannot personally guide everyone around all the galleries. Having parents with us will allow families to focus on the galleries linked to their child’s learning, with time to explore their own interests too. We want curious, interested children—not tired children being taken through every gallery!
If you need your child to attend without you, please speak to me beforehand so we can discuss whether suitable arrangements are possible.
We also need to plan the practical details:
Travel: let me know how you expect to get there and whether you would like to travel with other Orchard families.
Lunch: please plan to bring a packed lunch and drinking water. We will confirm where we can eat as part of the visit arrangements.
Meeting up: I will share the meeting time and place with those who sign up.
If you cannot join us, there will be an opportunity to explore a museum from home.
For now, take a moment to check your learning. What have you finished? What needs another look? Is there something you need help with? Asking now will help you reach half term without a pile of unfinished work waiting for you.
Six weeks of learning already—there is plenty to feel proud of. Let’s make the next two count, then enjoy a well-earned break.
