Independent
Meaning – free from outside control, not depending on others.
Example of using it in a sentence: “Living alone taught her to be independent.”
It can also mean – not belonging to a political party or group.
Example of using it in a sentence: “He ran as an independent candidate in the election.”
Spelling Tips: Comes from in (not) + depend (rely on) + ent. Remember there is no ‘a’ in ‘pendent’ here — it’s pendent (ent family) not pendant (ant family).
Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can.
