hypocrisy
Meaning: saying one thing but doing the opposite
Example of using it in a sentence “Hypocrisy is claiming you are a vegetarian but eating bacon sandwiches when nobody is around to see you."
This Greek word started out meaning acting a theatrical part but has moved on to meaning pretending to be one something you are not.
Spelling tip: we are breaking the word up like this just as we say it. Remember that ‘y’ says a short ‘i’
hyp + oc + ris + y
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
