commission
Meaning to give an instruction, command or role to a person or a group to carry out a task, duty or role.
Example of using it in a sentence "Den and John have been commissioned to paint the new design on the gypsy caravan."
This word comes from two Latin words meaning 'together' and 'entrust'. Today we look for individuals or companies to do work for us and we commission them to carry to a mission because of the standard of work they have done in the past for others. We trust they will do the same for us. They trust us to pay once the work is done.
Spelling tip: In order to get the correct number of ‘m’s in to the word we will spell it how we say it.
com + mission
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
