Weekly Maths Problem

Don’t forget to write out the problem at the top of the page, date the work and show all your workings out (even the wrong answers) and then file the evidence in your folder! This is a multi-step problem. Think about all the steps you need to do to find the answer.

This week, I made Sour Cherry Jam from the cooking cherries harvested from my garden. The original recipe called for 2kg of cherries, 1200g of preserving sugar and 2 lemons. According to the recipe this would make 4 x 150g jars of jam.

A) I picked 3000g of cooking cherries on Tuesday – how did I adjust the recipe so that I could use all the fruit I picked?

B) How many 150g jars of jam did I make in total?

You can share your answers here in the forum on the website or with me as I visit during the week. Remember you need to show your workings out to get the maximum points.
