Weekly Maths Problem

Don’t forget to write out the Weekly Maths Problem at the top of your page, date the work and show all your workings out (even the wrong answers) and then file the evidence in your folder!

Sam and Alfie are helping the school librarian to re-shelve books, after World Book Day, in the school library. Sam puts 24 infant books on a shelf, whereas Alfie can only fit 16 junior books on a shelf. If they end up shelving the same number of books, what is the smallest number of books each could have shelved?
