Walking for Health - White snowdrops
On this week's walk you should be able to spot snowdrops out as stroll. Snowdrop's scientific name is "gallanthus nivalis" which means the milk flower of the snow. Unusually, the drop part of the word comes from the dangly earing bit also known as a drop. They can endure the winter and the snow in particular as they have a natural anti-freeze. The snowdrops pollen and nectar is an early meal for many bees who come out when the temperature warms slightly. So, look out for both of these as you walk.
