Looking Ahead to Our Final Week of Autumn 2

As we start looking head to our final week of Autumn 2, there’s a real sense of optimism in the air! It’s been a challenging half term for many of our homeschooling families, with a wave of norovirus, the 72-hour virus, and COVID making their rounds. But the good news is — we’re definitely on the mend!

Just a short while ago, nearly 70% of our community was unwell, and now that number has dropped to just over 50%. That’s fantastic news, and it shows how resilient and healthy our group truly is.

Despite the challenges, I’m delighted to share that we’ve only lost three days of homeschool teaching. Thanks to our incredible homeschoolers, who have shown great independence and responsibility for their learning, we’ve managed to make up so much ground. Many of you found ways to fit in extra sessions during Week 7, and an impressive number of students are now fully back on track. That’s something to be proud of!

I’ve also loved seeing the messages from those who are now feeling better and ready to dive back into their studies. For anyone still catching up or worrying about unfinished work — please don’t stress. I know how hard these past few weeks have been, and I’ll always take illness, hospital visits, and recovery time into account. Some of you have been unlucky enough to get one then another of the illness in the last three weeks! Life Happens and we will deal with it!

We’re still looking forward to our fun day at the sports centre! Originally planned for the 24th of October, we’ll now be moving it to either Week 13 or Week 14 in December, as the sports centre staff are currently recovering from their own wave of illness. This just means our celebration will come a little later — and we’ll be able to enjoy it in full health and good spirits!

Thank you all for your perseverance, positivity, and teamwork. Let’s make this last week of Autumn 2 a strong finish, full of focus and pride in how far we’ve come.
