Mortgage
Meaning – a legal agreement by which a bank lends money in exchange for the title of a property, which is returned when the debt is paid.
Example of using it in a sentence: “They took out a mortgage to buy their first home.”
Spelling Tips: mort + gage — from French meaning “death pledge” (the pledge ends when the debt is paid or the property is taken). The ‘t’ is silent.
Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can.
