There is always a Plan B!

Sometimes life doesn't always go to plan, despite all of our best efforts! Life happens and in week 5 is defiantly started to! By 7.30am Monday morning I had several messages to say that the Norovirus had taken a number of you down and out. By mid-week the last of you were coming down with the 3-day virus that has been circulating since week 3. Then Thursday Covid started to bite! Week 6 starts tomorrow and regardless of where we are: at home, away visiting, competing or working the autumn shows and fairs just under 70% of our home school population is now sick including the teacher – life happens!
When things go awry this this it is easy to say “Oh woe is me! This is really bad! This is a disaster! What are we going to do? How are we going to get back on track?”
What we need to do instead is to take a step back and breath. That is why we prepare well and always have a Plan B.
For those of you who are well!
If you are one of those who are well - open up your Week 6 support material pack on Monday morning and work on anything that is easy amongst the worksheets and on everything you can do independently. Work on your units in any order. On the harder units make a start ans get as far as you can. On any units you find really trick step over them and try another one. Once you have exhausted the easy stuff make sure your comprehension is fully up to date.
If by Tuesday you have done everything you can start working on your easiest recommendation and work upwards.
The morning sessions will resume as soon as I am able to talk more than 2 sentences together without coughing!
For those of you who are sick!
Down tools and rest! Follow the NHS advice on how to recover from whichever one you have. Yes, right now it is ok to roll over and go back to sleep!
Rest is very important when you are ill because it gives your body time and energy to fight off the illness. When you rest, your body can focus on healing instead of using energy for other activities. Sleep also helps your immune system work better, which means it can get rid of germs more quickly. By resting, you are helping your body recover faster and feel stronger sooner.
When and only when you feel better thinking about returning to learning.
Once I’m feeling much better, we’ll work together to figure out who needs catch-up sessions, who might need extra help with the more challenging units, and how we can support each other as a team to reach the end of Week 8 – and the half-term break – with our to-do lists complete.
We have plenty of time to overcome this small “life happened” setback.
