Word of the Week
Competent (adjective)
Meaning – having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.
Example of using it in a sentence: “She is a competent dog trainer.”
Spelling Tip – the tricky part of this word is how we say it – it sounds like com per tent. It sounds like there is a ‘r’ in the middle but it is not there. Luckily this word is very clearly in the ‘ent’ family.
com + pet + ent
Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
