Word of the Week

Benefited (verb)

Meaning – the past tense of benefit, receiving an advantage of some sort.

Example of using it in a sentence: "I benefited from the kind advice and support from my parents, when I was a teenager.”

Spelling Tip – The second ‘e’ is the problem in this word because we say “ben ’i’ fited.” The stress on the forth letter is a short ‘i’ and not a long ‘e’. In this word, there is only one ‘t’ when we add the suffix ‘ed’ to show it is in the past.

Ben + e + fit + ed

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
