improvise
Meaning: to create something spontaneously without preparation and preplanning.
Example of using it in a sentence “When we watch Shakespeare’s plays at the Globe, the actors have to stick very closely to the script they cannot improvise, new lines."
This Latin root word means unforeseen which is where we get the idea of not prepared. The prefix “-im” is the not bit. You can’t prepare for something that is a surprise!
Spelling tip: we are breaking the word up like this just as we say it. Remember both ‘i’s are short and we do need two m’s
im + pro + vise
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
