immigrant
Meaning: a person who has come to line in a country from another country.
Example of using it in a sentence “Being an immigrant is not a negative thing, many people have skills that are in shortage elsewhere in the world. Many of my teacher friends have taught in Africa, Asia, Europe, the USA and South America and have settled there after falling in love with the people and country they serve."
This Latin root word means to remove, to go into or to move in to – it more about positively taking action to leave your home country to make a life in another.
Spelling tip: we are breaking the word up like this just as we say it. Remember both ‘i’s are short and we do need two m’s
im + m + i + grant
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
