guardian
Meaning: the person who protects or defends something or someone.
Example of using it in a sentence “Sometimes, if you have a disable relative you have to act as their guardian, to protect them from people who mean them harm . "
This Old French word comes from the root word to garden. Where you nurture, protect and take care of a piece of land with valuable herbs and essential food. The suffix “-ian” meaning the person belong to or related to an area or faith. Notice we have that silent letter ‘u’ in this word like last week. Write it out a number of times so you learn the shape of the word and don’t forget that word.
Spelling tip: we are breaking the word up like this just as we say it.
g + u + ar + d + ain
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
