Word of the Week
conscience
Meaning a person’s moral sense of right and wrong, this then guides the persons behavior.
Example of using it in a sentence "Tommy’s conscience was clear when he told the truth when asked, even when he was tempted to lie to stay out of trouble."
Here we have a Middle English word with the idea of inner thoughts and inner knowledge. The ‘con’ meaning ‘with’ and the ‘science’ meaning ‘knowledge.’ You make a choice with the knowledge that it is either the right or wrong thing to do.
Spelling tip: we are going to say this as con + science. We need to note that this is in the ‘ence’ family and not the ‘ance’ family.
con + sci + ence
Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
