We Are Getting Ready for September!

September is suddenly not very far away, and things are getting busy behind the scenes at Orchard Homeschooling.

How are we getting ready for September?

We are welcoming new families, getting our existing families ready for the new year and putting together the first weekly learning packs ready for Week 1 on 1 September.

There has also been a lot of work going on with the curriculum over the summer. We have been looking carefully at what our children will be learning this year — but also at how they will be learning it.

We don't want homeschooling to mean sitting at the kitchen table working through endless worksheets. There will be things to investigate, things to make, places to visit, books to discover, conversations to have and plenty of opportunities to connect learning with ordinary life. Most importantly, children should know why they are learning something.

If you are already an Orchard family, you don't need to do anything complicated to get ready. Enjoy the rest of August, find the pencils, check what still fits in the pencil case, and perhaps locate the library card!

And if you are thinking about joining us for September, there is still time to get in touch.

The new Orchard year begins on 1 September.

We are nearly ready — and we are looking forward to getting started.

Open lined notebook on a wooden desk with colorful pencils and folders; blank pages labeled Date and No., school-ready and tidy.
