Word of the Week

Pastime (noun)

Meaning –an activity that someone does regularly for enjoyment rather than work; a hobby.

Example of using it in a sentence: "Nicola’s favourite pastime is cycling.”

Synonyms: sport, game, recreation, amusement, entertainment, fun, interest.

Spelling Tip – when we say this word out loud we can hear two ‘t’s. One at the end of ‘past’ and one at the start of ‘time’. We need to remember this is something we do to pass time and not something we have done in the past.

Pas + time

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
