Weekly Maths Problem

Sam and Tommy are helping the school librarian to re-shelve books, after World Book Day, in the school library. Sam puts 24 infant books on a shelf, whereas Tommy can only fit 16 junior books on a shelf. If they end up shelving the same number of books, what is the smallest number of books each could have shelved?

You can share your answers here on Facebook or in the forum or with me as I visit during the week. Remember you need to show your workings out to get the maximum points.
