Conscious (adjective)

Meaning – being aware of and responding to your surroundings.

Example of using it in a sentence "Although he was in pain, he was conscious.”

Synonyms: aware, awake, compos mentis, alter, responsive, sentient.

Meaning – having knowledge of something.

Example of using it in a sentence "Nicola is conscious of the extent of the problem.”

Spelling Tip – Conscious is sometimes confused with conscientious

The word has a silent c tuck it in with the ‘sc’ and remember to add the ious ending.

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
