Leisure (noun)

Meaning – time when one is not working or occupied – free time

Example of using it in a sentence: "Nicola doesn’t have enough leisure time.”

Synonyms: time off, freedom, holiday, breathing space.

It also meanings – use of free time for enjoyment

Example of using it in a sentence: "Nicola spends her leisure time reading.”

Synonyms: time off, freedom, holiday to do something for pleasure

Spelling Tip – we have all seen this word on the local sports centre and it is one word that we all can’t do. When you say the word, you can hear the ‘l’ followed by the short ‘e’ and the ‘sure’ at the end: what you need to say is “ ‘I’ needs to go in to the (sports) centre.”

L + e + i + sure

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
