Synonyms: individualistic, unconventional, maverick

It also meanings – not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence

Example of using it in a sentence: "I want to remain independent in my old age!”

Synonyms: self- sufficient, self-supporting, self-sustaining, self-reliant, self-standing

It also be used as a noun – “One of the few Independent Banks on the high street.”

Spelling Tip – this is an “ent”, not an “ant” word. Say “independent has three e’s and no a’s”
