Word of the Week
humour (noun and verb)
Meaning – when we use it as a noun we mean something that has the quality of being funny. However, when we use it as a verb, it has a far darker meaning because you are hoping to keep somebody ‘happy’ regardless of how unreasonable they are being.
Example of using it in a sentence: “John has a great sense of humour, he can make a joke out of anything.”
Example of using it in a sentence: “I am always having to humour them to avoid an agreement, they can get quite nasty if they don’t get their own way.”
Spelling Tip –
hu + m + our
Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
