Word of the Week

corroborate

Meaning: something that confirms or supports to a statement, theory or a finding.

Example of using it in a sentence "The witness corroborated the girls account of the accident."

This word builds upon the word correspond. The ‘cor’ meaning ‘together’ and the ‘roborate’ meaning ‘to strengthen’ and means when looked at together something is strengthened.

Spelling tip: we are going to say the sounds here separately and remembering that this word has two ‘r’s’.

cor + ro + bo + rate
