government (noun)


Meaning – the group of people with either the power, authority or consent to govern a country or state. A government is responsible for raising taxes to pay for what the people need like hospitals, schools, police forces, prisons, fire brigades, transportation systems, boarder control etc.


Example of using it in a sentence: “In the UK, the government does not subsidies homeschooling, parents must pay for it all themselves.


Spelling Tip – the bit that gets missed or muddled every time in this word is the ‘r’ and the ‘n’ in the middle here. So, watch out for this say the word as you spell it.
