Word of the Week
guardian (noun)
Meaning – a person who protects or defends something.
Example of using it in a sentence: “We are all guardians of our own mental health.”
Spelling Tip – The root word comes to us through three different languages and time periods. The idea of a guardian comes from the idea of a walled garden, a garden protected from all sides by a high wall to prevent deer and rabbits from eating food growing inside. We have the root word ‘guard’ and the suffix meaning ‘like’ or ‘related to’.
