Word of the Week
chief (noun)
Meaning – a leader or ruler of a people or clan.
Example of using it in a sentence: "The chief of the village was a woman.”
Spelling Tip – this word gets muddled with the word ‘chef’ (a person who cooks), with us dyslexics. It the tricky ‘i’ which sits just behind the ‘h’ and before the 'e'. We don’t hear it even though we know that belongs to the ‘ie’ family and says ‘ee’ like in "field".
ch + ie + f
Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
