Weekly Maths Problem

Don’t forget to write out the problem at the top of the page, date the work and show all your workings out (even the wrong answers) and then file the evidence in your folder! This is a multi-step problem – you are estimating the answer. Think about all the steps you need to do to find the answer.

The equation below shows how the number of tomato plants Luke can have in his garden is related to the number of seeds in the packet he purchases.

t = s + 4

The variable s represents the number of seeds in the packet he purchases, and the variable t represents the total number of tomato plants in the garden. How many seeds need to be in the packet to give Luke a total of 17 tomato plants in his garden?

You can share your answers here in the forum on the website or with me as I visit during the week. Remember you need to show your workings out to get the maximum points.
