Healthy August - Ice-cream Seller: A Swimming Game to Play

Here at Orchard Training we like to encourage all out learners, in school or out to do an hour of exercise every day to help them stay healthy and if it is free we like it even better.

If you have a pool at home or if you can visit the beach this summer - you can play Ice Cream.

You will need enough friends and Studdy Buddies to make up the fun.

  • This is played like Grandma Steps.

  • One player is chosen as the ice-cream seller, and stands at one end of the pool.

  • The other players are situated at the other end of the pool.

  • With their back to the group the ice-cream seller calls out a ice cream flavour.

  • The other players can move forward a step if they have the letter of the flavour ice-cream in their name. For example strawberry ice-cream means Sam, Scarlet, Lisa and Jess can take a step forward.

  • As the players approach the end, the ice-cream seller is allowed to turn around and look at how far away they are. The players in the group must freeze. If they move they have to go back to the start.

  • The first player to reach the ice-cream seller is the winner.

I know - I am very sorry - I snuck in some phonics in this game!
