Word of the Week

improvise (verb)

Meaning – to create or preform something spontaneously or without preparation.

Example of using it in a sentence: “We had to improvise this recipe when we could not get hold of all the ingredients.

Spelling Tip – all parts of this word are from Latin. The prefix ‘im’ meaning ‘not’ and the root ‘provise’ meaning ‘not foreseen’ leaving us with “something not sorted out ahead of time.”

im + pro + v + ise

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
