criticism (noun)


Meaning – the expression of disapproval as a result of a judgment of someone or something on the basis of faults or mistakes.

Example of using it in a sentence:He has received a lot of criticism for the way he has run the company over the last few months.

Spelling Tip – The Latin root word is the noun critic - a person who expresses an unfavorable opinion of something or someone and the old English suffix ‘ism’ indicating the action of giving the unfavorable option is taking place.
