Word of the Week

colleagues (noun)

Meaning – a person who you work with.

Example of using it in a sentence: "My colleague in the accounts department will help you with that.”

Spelling Tip – in this word we have two sets of digraphs, the long ‘ee’ made by the ‘ea’ and the silent sound made by the ‘ue’. When we say the word colleague we end on the ‘g’. This word is a muscle memory word where writing it out over and over again until your hand and eye remembers the whole word. While you write you can say to yourself – “I have two colleagues called ‘ea’ and ‘ue’.”

c + o + ll + ea + g + ue

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
