Word of the Week

castle (verb)

Meaning – a large building fortified against attack with thick walls, battlements, towers and in many cases by water.

Example of using it in a sentence: "A great place for an educational visit is Edinburgh Castle.”

Spelling Tip – This is one of our regular Purple Turtle words and it is all down to how you as the word. Some people will put the stress on the ‘cas’ saying it a ‘casssle’ and some will put the stress on the ‘a’ saying as ‘carsell’. Neither stress the ‘t’ - so simple Purple Turtle it!

cas + tle

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
