honorary (adjective)
Meaning – the given of honour, without the usual method of getting the honour.
Example of using it in a sentence: “Some people are given honorary membership of club even if they don’t play that sport.”
Spelling Tip – we need to remember that it belongs to the ‘ary’ and not the ‘ery’ family. The ‘ary’ suffix means ‘belonging to’ or ‘connected to’ something. Whereas, the ‘ery’ is added to noun it follows - to show doing that noun. Just what out because the word honour in English is spelt honour – with an ‘u’ and the ‘u’ is not there when you + ary
