Word of the Week

Desperate

Meaning: a feeling of hopelessness when a situation is so bad that it is impossible to deal with.

Example of using it in a sentence “I shall do my homework defiantly on time this week, because I have planned my time out well."

The root word comes from the Latin word meaning despair – without hope!

Spelling tip: we are going to help ourselves with the spelling but saying the word with the hard “per” in the middle and hard “ate” at the end.

                                                               des + per + ate

Use the word as many times throughout the week. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
