Spelling Tip – here we have a choice between the suffixes ‘cial’ and ‘tial’ spelling families. We need to remember that to check the letter that goes directly before the suffix. If it is a vowel then it is ‘cial’ and if it is a consonant its ‘tial’. Here it is an ‘e’.

Another way to remember if the word connects to - people its ‘cial’ like facial, social and beneficial. If it connects to - rules or objects its ‘tial’ like essential, partial and substantial.

Sp + e + cial

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
