Meaning –the more desirable or suitable

Example of using it in a sentence: "Booking early is preferable to waiting and not getting the slot you want.”

Synonyms: Better, best, advantageous, superior, recommended, favoured.

Spelling Tip – two things to remember with this word. It is the “er’ sound in the middle is made with the ‘er’ and not ‘ir’ or ‘ur’ and it is in the ‘able’ family not the ‘ible’ family.
