Word of the Week

Committed (adjective)

Meaning – pledged or bound to a certain course or policy; dedicated.

Example of using it in a sentence "Nicola is committed to educating us.”

Meaning – in or denoting a long-term emotional relationship.

Example of using it in a sentence "When you marry you enter in to a committed relationship.”

Spelling Tip – The ‘com’ prefix means together, the ‘mit’ root word is Latin for sending, so you are “sending + together” the message of commitment. Remember that the root word ‘mit’ is a cvc word so we double the ‘t’ when adding a suffix.

Use the word as many times throughout the week as you can. This can be verbally, in your written work or listen out for other people using it.
